The Opportunity
The Edinburgh College of Art is seeking to recruit a Lecturer in Music on a part-time, fixed term basis for 12 months.
This fixed-term (12 month) Lecturer will have responsibility for organising, delivering and maintaining a number of core and elective courses at SCQF Levels 8, 10 and 11 currently offered to students on programmes including BMus Music, BSc Acoustics and Music Technology, and MMus Musicology. In particular, the successful candidate will be required to deliver teaching and supervision for the following courses: Fundamentals of Music Theory, Music and Human Communication, and Creative Practice Music Project.
They will undertake a designated leadership role within the subject area, most likely as programme director for the MMus in Musicology.
Skills and Attributes for Success
Educated to doctoral level in a relevant subject or equivalent experience.
Comprehensive knowledge and expertise in a relevant field/s of music studies such as ethnomusicology, music psychology or education
Excellent interpersonal skills for both student-facing roles and team work with colleagues.
Experience of teaching and educational administration in Scottish higher education.
Experienced in a range of methods of teaching and delivery of course content across different teaching levels
A demonstrable commitment to the principles and practices of Equality, Diversity and Inclusion in the workplace
