New Opportunity in NHS Research

Research Delivery Support Assistant in Clinical Health Psychology

Band 5 full time post or Band 6 part time post, with possibility of a job share and flexibility around hours.

We are delighted to be inviting applications to an exciting and innovative new post as an NHS Research Delivery Support Assistant/Fellow; the successful applicant will support the development and evaluation of a pilot Psychological Care project across the East of England which is being led by the Mid Essex Stroke Psychology Service in EPUT.

The Research Delivery Support Assistant will firstly support the development and evaluation of a training resource to support Level One Psychological Care within the Stroke pathway. Additionally the post-holder will be required to support with monthly reporting NHS Ethics, writing for publication, conference presentations and dissemination of project.

This is an exciting new opportunity to develop skills in clinically focused research and evaluation. It is a great opportunity for a post graduate researcher interested in developing their skills in applied psychologically focused research in an NHS context, or indeed for a suitably qualified psychology assistant or CAP looking to develop their research knowledge and experience.



The Research Delivery Support Assistant will hold the primary role of:


• Supporting the development and evaluation of training modules for the broader multi-disciplinary clinicians working with the stroke population providing Level One Psychological Care. The evaluation will support understanding of effect of the co-produced training modules, how the training can be supported in the long term and ideas which can support the modelling of services.
• Maintaining consistent links with services users, services and clinicians who are working on similar projects to create ongoing spaces for shared learning and resource building
• Alongside this the Research Delivery Support Assistant/Fellow will support the dissemination of findings across the East of England and nationally


The Clinical Health Psychology Services (CHPS) work in the interface between physical and mental health. The NHSE funded project is a unique opportunity within CHPS, which can incorporate the breadth of knowledge across our services in the Mid and South Essex areas. The project enables a collaboration across geographical boundaries with co-production being a clear element of the services ethos.

This post is offered either full time as a Band 5 (or on a fractional basis) or part time as a Band 6 depending on skills and qualifications, .

While the post in is based in Maldon, the post holder will be able to do a significant proportion of their work remotely and there are opportunities for flexible working arrangements.

The Trust offers excellent support for staff CPD, and post holders will be supported through the appraisal system to undertake relevant training and development, for example, to undertake leadership training, or to develop their own area of research. We have strong links with several regional universities that include research collaborations as well as contribution to teaching and placement experience.
