Are you passionate about ensuring that our ex-British Armed Forces (Veterans) – Navy, Army and RAF servicewomen and men have excellent mental health care?
Are you driven and professionally skilled in engaging, assessing and helping to navigate patients experiencing substance misuse difficulties that can sometimes be difficult-to-engage, complex and risky, ?
Are you determined, can-do and resourceful to help support the urgent care pathway team as part of the wider NHS OP Courage services , supporting veterans and their families at times of mental health crisis?
You will treat each veteran as an individual, working alongside them to find the right treatment best care options and linking in with local substance misuse providers and our colleagues at Tom Harrison House, a specialist addiction recovery service.
You will be joining a team of highly committed people from the Midlands OpCourage non-urgent and treatment pathway who are all dedicated to the cause and working to provide the kind of service that you would want for your own loved ones all with the right spirit of fun, camaraderie and trust in each other.

Working alongside veterans who are struggling with substance misuse difficulties, engaging and assessing and helping to navigate those who can sometimes can be difficult-to-engage, complex and risky. Working with veterans and their families in times of crisis across the West Midlands region to change the direction of their lives.
Liaising with other NHS services, including G.P's and acute hospitals, regional substance misuse providers, military charities and third sector agencies to ensure collaborative working across the patch.
Together we can go further to ensuring that the NHS fulfils its commitment and picks up and responds to the particular needs of veterans and their families in times of crisis. You will work within the team, covering a designated geographical area (Herefordshire, Worcestershire @ CWPT ) from a satellite base in Rugby.

The post holder will primarily be responsible for providing the Op Courage veterans hubs and patients with substance misuse and addictions expertise. They will offer psychoeducational and low-level support with coping skills supporting the veteran through a period of stabilisation as needed. Crucially, the post holder will engage local substance misuse services and support engagement with these services to establish robust care pathways.
Where veterans with substance misuse/addiction needs may be low risk, the post holder will work with the hubs’ caseloads to provide, for example co-ordination of care needs, assessment, planning, and implementation of evidence-based care to a defined group of service users and their carers within the service catchment area.
The post holder will provide professional advice and support to other agencies and members of the multi-disciplinary team. The post will involve working within the urgent and non-urgent pathways for Midlands Op Courage and other appropriate services across the area of responsibility.
This is a community-based post providing initial and continuing assessment of mental health needs of military veterans ensuring that an agreed package of care is implemented which reflects the Trust’s policy to engage services users and their carers in all aspects of their carer and treatment.
