Our corporate property team are going through a transformation to improve service delivery. Our priority is to manage and rationalise our land and property assets in line with the vision and priorities set out within the council plan, ensuring that our assets are safe, efficient, fit for purpose, sustainable and provide value for money for the communities of Chesterfield.

The council own and manage a significant and wide varying corporate property portfolio including the Town Hall, two leisure centres, two theatres, a crematorium and various other operational properties. Additionally, the council leases out over 500 commercial properties.

We are seeking to recruit a corporate property maintenance manager who will oversee our corporate property maintenance and engineering team. The team consists of building surveyors, structural, civil, electrical, and mechanical engineers and technicians. In the main, the team oversee and manage contractors to carry out repairs and maintenance to our wide variety of corporate properties.

The post holder will ensure compliance and property maintenance of the council’s property portfolio and keep our properties safe, dry, and secure through the implementation of an appropriately resourced, well-managed, rigorous compliance regime and a repairs and renewals programme with evidence-led maintenance plans, which are based on an appropriate balance of investment between planned and reactive maintenance.

The successful candidate will assist on procurement and rolling the programme of maintenance plans in respect of each council-built asset. You will also be the technical lead on delivering agreed projects from improvements, maintenance and decarbonisation programme – with the allocation of appropriate resources, as well as providing technical advice and support for major new building projects.

The post holder will lead on the liaison and management of specialist consultants to provide repairs and maintenance advice to Chesterfield Borough Council directorates. Completion of dilapidation surveys and associated works as part of the commercial estate management is also an important element of this post.
