This is a fast-paced and varied role in a small, high-performing team leading on creative skills policy. The team’s focus is on ensuring that all creative industries sectors have the education, skills and workforce they need to deliver sustained growth. The role involves working across DCMS and Whitehall, as well as with senior external stakeholders to deliver the industry and workforce ambitions of the Government.
Current projects in the portfolio include leading the strategic development and delivery of the Creative Advisory Group (which supports post-16 technical education pathways into the Creative Industries), driving forward research into specialist creative education provision, and representing the interests of creative industries stakeholders in school-age creative skills policy development.
The post holder will:
- Work closely with industry, DCMS analysts, sector leads and other government departments (particularly the Department for Education) to ensure the education and skills ambitions of the Government are met.
- Provide expert analysis and policy development on current and future creative industry skills needs in order to support fiscal and non-fiscal proposals at Spending Review.
The post holder will have some task management responsibility of a policy advisor at EO level who works across the broader creative economy team.
