Children In Need Social Worker - Level 3 - Full Time - Permanent

Joining Children In Need, this is a full time 37 hours per week role on a permanent basis. Working a hybrid model of home, visits and the main office on charles street leicester.

We asked our staff Why should someone want to work in social care for Leicester City Council as opposed to somewhere else? They said…

We rise to the challenges we face

Leicester is a vibrant and diverse city. Naturally that means there are many people that need our support – for many different reasons. It’s challenging, but we know we can help. That’s because we have honed our practice and our processes over many years. We use evidence, and we form the right partnerships to have the biggest effect. We decide what we’re going to do, how we’re going to do it, and, above all, implement it well, with time for the change to be understood, and take real effect. And we use this stability as a way to build better connections across this compact, easy to get around area to better know the people and families we help. When we put it all together, we can give lasting help, not long-term reliance.

At Leicester, you’ll have the chance to do the job right.

We give you the backing you need

We have a wide range of training for social workers at every stage of their career. But more importantly, we can give them the time and encouragement to maximise what they can learn. That’s part of what helps our social workers move onwards in their career. It’s also partly due to our determination to – as far as possible - grow our own. Sometimes form newly qualified right through to management. That’s because it works – it creates people that know our systems and city. Day-to-day, and year-to-year, there is always someone to talk to give professional support and advice, or simply to be a friendly listener. That’s part of our duty of care to you. We also give as much flexible and hybrid working as possible, look after your wellbeing and - wherever we can – keep your caseloads in manageable limits.

At Leicester, you’re supported professionally and personally.

We give you the confidence to improve, and to stay

We know what we do is effective. We want stability, but we don’t want complacency. We are always looking for new ways to improve and to innovate. Listening to our staff and implementing their ideas is one of the best ways we can do this. We want our staff to benefit from all that we offer. It’s important to maintain their confidence in the practice the deliver and the outcomes they reach. We know they do better work when they have time to reflect on how good their work is. All of this means that people tend to stay with us longer than many other authorities. It’s not because it’s too cosy, or comfortable – it’s because we do things well. For our residents, council taxpayers and employees. And by keeping people here longer, it’s done even better.

At Leicester, we want to keep improving, and we want you to be part of it.

So why not join us...

We’re committed to recruiting a diverse and highly talented workforce as we continue to build a council that is fitting and representative of our great city. We will consider full and part time applicants. While we would love to recruit you on a permanent basis if you are looking for a shorter period let us know too.

We’ve designed our recruitment process to put you at your ease, make you feel welcome and bring the best out of you.

All you need to do is email your cv or details to rachel.heggs@leicester.gov.uk Or fill out the basic details by clicking apply now.
