Summary

INTERIM PROCUREMENT MANAGER

We are looking to recruit an experienced Procurement Manager for a leading company in the field of highway electrical assets maintenance and installation & construction. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the procurement process, ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of materials, equipment, and services necessary for the projects. Additionally, the candidate must have experience in team leadership and category management.

ROLE: Procurement Manager
LOCATION: Remote with occasional travel to Birmingham for team meetings
SALARY: £50,000 per annum
JOB TYPE: Contract: 6 months with extension likely
HOURS: Full time, Monday to Friday
IR35: Outside of IR35

THE ROLE:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies that align with company objectives and project requirements.
  • Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers based on quality, cost, delivery, and service.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, negotiating contracts and terms of agreement.
  • Monitor supplier performance and resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Prepare, review, and manage contracts, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor and manage inventory levels, ensuring optimal stock levels.
  • Develop and manage procurement budgets, ensuring adherence to financial targets.
  • Track and report on procurement expenditures, identifying areas for cost reduction.
  • Manage team performance, providing regular feedback and conducting performance appraisals.


THE SUCCESSFUL CANDIDATE:

  • Professional certification (e.g., CIPS) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in procurement, with a focus on construction or utilities.
  • Strong understanding of procurement principles, practices, and regulations.
  • Proven experience in team leadership and development.
  • Expertise in category management and strategic sourcing.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in procurement software and Microsoft Office Suite.
