Job Description

Martha’s Mammies is a multi-disciplinary project that aims to offer holistic, person-centred, strengths-based support utilizing a trauma informed, assertive outreach approach to engage with birth mothers who have lost care of their children. The service operates a “one stop shop” where the main aims are:
 Safety and stabilisation work with women
 To support women to reduce problematic alcohol and/or drug use
 To support women to improve health outcomes and engage with relevant health services including GP, Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Recovery Services and Sexual Health, where relevant
 To support women to engage with Children’s Services and processes in respect to their children
 To increase women’s confidence to believe change is possible
 To help women develop resilience and build on strengths
 To empower women to meet their own needs
 To enable women to access local community resources

The team consists of social care staff, mental health nurse, FGDM link worker and lived experience volunteers. The team works closely with, and share resources with, Tomorrow’s Women Glasgow (TWG). The social care worker role has responsibility for managing a caseload of women who are open to the service, with tasks including assessment and care planning, assertive outreach, individual 1-2-1 support with women, group work programmes and drop in support as and when required. The team are required to work in partnership with both their colleagues in social work and key stakeholders to continue to deliver and develop the service moving forward.

These posts are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme will be essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above position will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.
