This is a new and exciting developmental post open to three applicants who are pursuing the Cardiff Postgraduate Diploma (PG Dip) in Forensic Psychology Practice route to qualification as a Forensic Psychologist on a full-time 2-year basis. The role aims to provide an accessible route to becoming a forensic psychologist.

Weare seeking to recruit enthusiastic, compassionate and motivatedapplicants who are on the Postgraduate Diploma (PG Dip) in Forensic Psychology Practice. Interviews will happen jointly between Leads for the Postgraduate Diploma and Oxleas Service Leads.

Please note that employment is contingent on successful application to the Cardiff training course and Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust operates a probationary period. Further information is available on request.

This developmental post is a split post. For 0.5WTE the successful candidates will occupy a PT B6 trainee position in Oxleas’ Forensics and Prisons psychological therapies department. This part of the contract is focused on the delivery of a psychology service to the OPD (Offender Personality Disorder) services within the prison and/or community applyinga trauma-informed model of care.Combined with the trainee position hours is a 0.5WTE honorary role within theOPD services. This is focused on additional activities required for the qualification, such as research, training and policy development.

Other benefits of the role include being part of theForensic Psychological Therapies department in Oxleas, as well as the London Pathways Partnership and OPD services, which provides a breadth of professional opportunities across community and prison settings and opportunities for research and career progression through ongoing professional development.

Oxleas offers a wide range of NHS healthcare services to people in community and secure environment settings. Our services include community health care such as district nursing and speech and language therapy, care for people with learning disabilities and mental health care such as psychiatry, nursing and therapies. Our multidisciplinary teams look after people of all ages and we work in close partnership with other parts of the NHS, local councils and the voluntary sector and through our new provider collaboratives. Our 4,300 members of staff work in many different settings including hospitals, clinics, prisons, secure hospitals, children’s centres, schools and people’s homes.

We manage hospital sites including Queen Mary’s Hospital, Sidcup and Memorial Hospital, Woolwich, as well as the Bracton Centre, our medium secure unit for people with mental health needs. We are the largest NHS provider of prison health services providing healthcare to prisons within Devon, Dorset, Bristol, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire, Kent and South London.
