The New Hospital Programme (NHP) Finance Directorate supports and enables the delivery of NHP’s strategic objectives by ensuring that NHP’s finances are managed appropriately in the short, medium and long-term, ensuring there are robust controls in place to manage risk, proactive stakeholder engagement and effective financial management (including ownership of workstream budgets and agreeing capital envelopes).
The NHP Finance Strategy & Operations team is a rapidly growing and supportive team looking for a high performing, adaptable finance professional who can establish themselves quickly. The postholder will be working closely with the Finance Business Partnering team and other workstreams within the programme across NHS England and the Department of Health & Social Care.
Responsibilities of the team Senior Finance Officer's include:-
Contribute to ensuring the team meets all its internal and external reporting obligations
Managing all communications from internal and external stakeholders via the dedicated finance team inbox in a timely manner.
• Resolving those within scope of the role
• Allocating and/or escalating as necessary
• Maintain oversight of the status of the communication sent from the inbox in relation to key deadlines and ensure prompt chase up is actioned
Develop and maintain Team KPI’s for internal performance monitoring
Contribute to the identification and monitoring of financial risk across schemes within the New Hospital Programme
Support the Strategic Finance Lead in medium-long term financial planning
In collaboration with the Senior Accountants, produce Management Accounts for the Programme in accordance with the agreed timetable including;
• Lead on ensuring commitments are raised on the system in line with agreed governance
• Lead on ensuring accruals and pre-payments are processed promptly in line with month end closedown deadlines
• Assist the Senior Accountant with the review, validation and analysis of monthly accounts for NHP Directorates
Contribute to the annual budget setting / financial planning process, ensuring budgetary control is in place for any subsequent amendments
To continually review, recommend and implement changes to financial processes and procedures within the Programme
