Job Description:
The Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner (OPCC) is seeking a qualified Senior Accountant to support the Head of Finance. This role involves financial stewardship, business management support, and ensuring effective delivery of the OPCC's priorities. This is initially a 2 month contact with a view to extend
Key Responsibilities:
• Team Management: Coordinate with Senior Accountants to manage team workload and priorities, ensuring timely delivery.
• Budget Management: Oversee budget setting, financial strategy, and maintain budgetary control systems.
• Financial Guidance: Provide financial advice to internal and external stakeholders for decision-making.
• Financial Statements: Produce and refine statutory financial statements per CIPFA Code and IFRS.
• Audit Compliance: Work with auditors to ensure systems and processes meet audit standards.
• Meetings and Reporting: Attend meetings to provide financial insights and reports.
• Grant and Asset Management: Oversee grant schemes and maintain fixed asset records.
General Tasks:
• Planning and Budget Management: Influence and manage budget and business plans.
• Quality and Compliance: Ensure compliance with policies and deliver effective service.
• Health, Safety, and Wellbeing: Promote safety and wellbeing within the organization.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Qualified CCAB accountant with 2 years post-qualification experience.
• Managerial and supervisory experience.
• Experience with financial management systems and strategy implementation.
• Knowledge of IFRS, public finance, and corporate governance.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and data analysis tools.
• Level 1 Welsh essential; Level 2 desirable (training provided).
