Crynodeb

The Diabetic Eye Screening Programme is looking to recruit enthusiastic, caring people to provide screening services to the population of Hertfordshire and West Essex who have diabetes. The condition can cause sight threatening issues and early detection is key to maintaining sight and overall general health.

The programme operates across Hertfordshire and the successful candidates would be expected to travel out to selected venues, usually in Community Health settings and Hospitals to take photographs of the eye for grading and recording.

Those interested need not necessarily have either screening or health care backgrounds but would be seen as advantageous if they did, as full training will be provided where necessary. Enrolment into a recognised Eye Screening diploma course after an initial period for which the candidate would be required to contribute some of their home time to complete.

Capacity to predominantly work on their feet all day, face to face with patients, moving equipment to gain best images in a clinic setting.

You must hold a full, UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle to use regularly for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010).The base currently is Gossom’s End, Berkhamsted, but will be moving to Sandridge Gate Business Park, St Albans from April.

As well as your salary, there are a range of NHS benefits available and the post may attract a High-Cost Area allowance dependent on your work location.

The Diabetic Eye Screening Programme provides a public health service to the Hertfordshire and West Essex population with diabetes, a long-term condition. Early detection and regular monitoring will assist with the prevention of damage to the eyes or even sight loss. The screener/grader team provide the patient facing component of the programme.
