Summary

The cardiology department is staffed with energetic, forward-looking cardiologists, and we are looking for a similar individual to join our interventiona/TAVI team. The Trust recognises many of the challenges facing the cardiology department and the need for expansion. This additional posts will support the development of the TAVI service to deliver timely and the highest quality patient care. You will work for HUTH in a purpose-built £28 million Heart Centre which includes 4 cardiac catheter labs equipped with GE Inova 2100 imaging systems, dedicated short stay and in-patient wards. The centre includes the cardiology outpatient and diagnostic departments, 3 cardiothoracic operating theatres and intensive care, high observation and cardiothoracic surgery beds. We receive invaluable support of our highly experienced set of cardiac physiologists across both trusts. Intervention. We are the 24/7 regional Heart Attack Centre for a catchment population of 1.2 million, performing 600 primary PCIs annually. In addition, we provide tertiary interventional cardiology services for Hull, East Riding of Yorkshire, North Lincolnshire and parts of North Yorkshire. We perform a total of 1600 PCIs a year, including complex angioplasties. There is a dedicated CTO program with 2 consultants in the department running the service.

To facilitate expansion of aortic stenosis/TAVI and cardiology services, we have an exciting opportunity for a consultant interventional cardiologist with special interest in TAVI. The post is substantive. Applicants who are TAVI trained through a dedicated or structured fellowship program would be particularly welcome, as the service requires immediate support. You will work alongside Dr Raj Chelliah, who leads the TAVI service, and other members of the TAVI team to delivery high quality and timely TAVI.

Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) is a regional centre providing cardiology services in East Yorkshire as well as tertiary services for patients in East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire. The posts will attract 10 PA’s – including 2 OPD and 2-3 cath lab sessions at Castle Hill Hospital.

The successful applicants can expect to contribute to the day-time on call rota as Consultant of the week. In-patient work is primarily based at Castle Hill Hospital. With expansion of in-patient cardiology services at Hull Royal Infirmary, a cardiology ward was established in 2023 and this forms part of the consultant of the week commitment.

The Humber Health Partnership is one of the largest acute and community Partnership arrangements in the NHS, seeing well over one million patients every year and managing a budget of over £1.3 billion.

Made up of two Trusts - Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust (NLAG) and Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (HUTH) - our Partnership has significant ambitions and is committed to delivering world-class hospital and community services for the 1.65 million people we serve.

Together we employ nearly 20,000 staff. Our five main hospital sites are Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Scunthorpe General Hospital and Goole and District Hospital, for NLAG and Hull Royal Infirmary and Castle Hill Hospital for HUTH.

As Teaching Hospitals working with the Hull York Medical School, we both lead and contribute to research in many areas - biomedical research, primary care, palliative medicine, cardiovascular and respiratory medicine, vascular surgery, cancer surgery and oncology.

We believe that by developing a diverse, inclusive, innovative, skilled and caring workforce, we can deliver excellent care to our patients and a great future for our employees, our Partnership and our community.
