Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Lecturer in International Journalism to work across Journalism programmes at BA and MA level.
With 60 years’ experience teaching journalism, the University of Central Lancashire has a fantastic reputation within the industry. Journalism at UCLan is ranked number 1 in England (2024 Guardian League tables) for teaching quality, at number 2 for career prospects.
We are seeking to recruit an individual who is highly motivated to take on responsibility as Course Leader for our BA (Hons) International Journalism and deliver classes in practical journalism across our suite of programmes.
The BA (Hons) International Journalism sits alongside our accredited programmes in BA (Hons) Journalism (National Council for the Training of Journalists) and BA (Hons) Sports Journalism (Broadcast Journalism Training Council), within UCLan’s School of Arts and Media.
We are seeking a positive individual who has a passion for news in an international context, an excellent understanding of diverse learning styles and how to support learners with the HE sector. The successful applicant must have experience working with diverse groups and speakers of English as foreign language. The successful candidate will have worked in either an HE or leadership capacity in Journalism or a related industry, including Media and Public Relations. Knowledge of working with professional bodies is an advantage.
You must have a flexible approach to learning and teaching, a passion for the subject, and a willingness to work effectively and constructively with students. The successful candidates for this post must be student-focused and have Higher Education delivery experience and/or relevant industry experience. They must also have a good honours degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject with a professional teaching qualification or membership of the HE Academy and will also have current industry connections across an international spectrum.
