Join our client as an advanced Machine Shop Engineer Trainee!

Our client, a heavy engineering subcontractor, based in East Cleveland, offers subcontract machining, mechanical engineering and testing services to several Industries including Defence, Renewables, Energy & Rail.

Formed in 1963, they are one of Redcar & Cleveland’s biggest privately owned employers.

Currently in their 60th year with a strong order book, and a great investment plan this is an excellent time to join them and be part of their future.

The role offers a competitive salary and benefits package including shift allowance and compressed hours shift pattern.

Are you the right person for the job?

• Knowledge and experience of safe working in a production facility
• Machine tool operation – lathes, milling machines, borers

• Programming experience – desired but not essential
• Overhead crane use, slinging – desired but not essential

What will your role look like?

In this role, you will undertake formal and on-the-job training in advanced machine shop skills (previous machine shop experience required), learn about their products and their equipment, and prepare for the next step of working independently as a machinist. (Higher earnings and shift working will then apply).

Be challenged every day and develop in a well-equipped, modern machine shop; supported by our engineering team

For these positions, they are considering candidates who are already experienced in machining, and want to take the next step to an advanced level. These are ideally suited to people who are:

• Already working in CNC machine operation, perhaps running existing programmes and/or machining repeat products, who want to be able to write their programmes and gain a higher skill level
• Working as a manual machinist and wanting to develop CNC programming and operation
• Unable to complete their apprenticeship perhaps through redundancy, and looking to complete and further their training. Ambitious to reach their full potential as programmers, setters, operators, and machine shop engineers
