Saurer Fibrevision Ltd, world leaders in Quality Monitoring equipment for the textile industry, have a vacancy for a Planner Buyer, to work in a clean and pleasant environment at their Macclesfield Lyme Green facility.
Position Summary: The Materials Planner/Buyer is responsible for ensuring the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials required for production. This role involves managing inventory levels, forecasting material needs, and maintaining relationships with suppliers to support the organisation's operational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Material Planning and Scheduling:
Develop and maintain material requirements plans based on production schedules.
Monitor inventory levels to ensure optimal stock levels and minimising excess inventory.
Coordinate with production teams to ensure timely availability of materials.
Carry out monthly stock analysis.
Procurement:
Source and procure raw materials, components, and supplies in line with production requirements.
Negotiate contracts, terms, and pricing with suppliers to achieve the best value.
Ensure all procurement activities comply with company policies and procedures.
Occasional travel to supplier locations may be required.
Supplier Management:
Establish and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential suppliers.
Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, delivery, and cost criteria.
Address and resolve any supplier-related issues promptly.
Forecasting and Reporting:
Analyse historical data and market trends to forecast material needs accurately.
Prepare and present reports on inventory levels, supplier performance, and procurement activities.
Identify and implement opportunities for cost savings and process improvements.
Inventory Control:
Conduct regular inventory audits and reconcile discrepancies.
Implement inventory control procedures to reduce waste and obsolescence.
Coordinate with warehouse staff to ensure proper storage and handling of materials.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Work closely with all departments, engineering, production, quality, sales and finance teams to align material planning with business objectives.
Participate in cross-functional projects to drive supply chain improvements.
Qualifications:
3-5 years of experience in materials planning and procurement, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Strong negotiation and communication skills.
Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
Preferred Qualifications:
CIPS Qualification or working towards CIPS.
Key Competencies:
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
Proactive and self-motivated with a results-oriented mind-set.
Collaborative team player with a positive attitude.
