Summary

DJEP Common Law Claims and Policy Team (CLCP) requires executive support including accurate and timely allocation of the large number of claims received by email and postal correspondence. CLCP provides the claims management function for the MOD, although the majority of claims received are outsourced to external providers. Claims raising sensitive and reputational issues are managed in-house. Claims received range from employer’s liability, public liability and third party motor liability claims.

This business support officer will be responsible for a number of key and varied workstreams including, the annual updating of Defence Instruction Notices (DINs), validating compensation and legal fee payments, managing Periodic Payment Orders working with MOD’s forensic accountancy supplier to ensure claimants are paid correctly and on time. The individual will be responsible for organising quarterly stakeholder engagement meetings and regular Policy team meetings and supporting on other policy workstreams.

As part of this role, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop confidence in a wide range of complex administrative tasks, develop an understanding of how law works in practice and take part in learning and development opportunities.

Key Tasks and Duties

To manage a broad range of varied casework support activities, including:

Management of Defence Instruction Notices
Validating payments on MOD payment systems
Managing Periodic Payment Orders working with MOD’s forensic accountancy supplier to ensure claimants are paid correctly and on time
Organising quarterly stakeholder engagement and Policy Team meetings
Filing, labelling, and locating documents within the Sharepoint site
Supporting the wider claims team with administrative tasks
