Chelsea and Westminster Hospital Foundation wishes to appoint one Specialist Grade Doctor in Respiratory Medicine.
This post will include general respiratory medicine clinics.
This post will be mainly based at West Middlesex Hospital site.
Below is a brief description of the role:
1. The main part of the job involves care of patients on the Respiratory/GIM ward (Syon2), including managing complex patients with tracheostomy, COPD, NIV, ILD, asthma and TB. You will be part of a Consultant led team of junior doctors, participate in daily Board rounds and twice weekly consultant ward rounds. The 32 beds on Syon 2 are divided between 2 consultant led teams
2. There will be opportunity to carry out Respiratory outpatient clinics.
3. Participating in and developing new pleural service with respiratory consultants, including pleural clinic in AEC, providing supervised pleural procedures for inpatients.
· Provide general respiratory medicine clinics, as well as other clinics as determined by the job plan and needs of the service
· Enhance the educational opportunities available to our trainees. Regular audits will be required and supervision for Quality Improvement Projects (QIP) undertaken by the trainees. Involvement in general management and committee work for the hospital will also be encouraged.
· The Department has clinical and educational meetings at which cases are reviewed and discussed. There are management meetings.
· The post holder will have administration support shared between other Consultants. The appointee will have a desk in a shared office with access to a computer.
· The department’s aim is to develop cross site working and partnerships in order to provide the best quality care to our patients. The post holder will be expected to actively participate in these developments with the post holder expected to work flexibly across either of our sites.
· Provide peer group support, supervision, further education and professional development essential to the welfare and effectiveness of trainees.
· Be educationally responsible for training and appraisal of junior staff
· Develop communication and other non-clinical aspects of new departmental initiatives.

· Provide peer group support, supervision, further education and professional development essential to the welfare and effectiveness of trainees.

· Demonstrate a continuing commitment to medical audit and evaluation in the department
· Develop communication and other non-clinical aspects of new departmental initiatives.
· Actively participate in undergraduate teaching of clinical medical students attached to the department
· Actively participate in other specialist or new services or initiatives when required
· Participate in appraisal on an annual basis. Appraisals are part of a robust divisional annual system, which is led by the Divisional Medical Director. The post holder is expected to be informed of the annual timetable for appraisal and ensure that appropriate time is set aside to update their portfolio and mandatory requirements.
