Summary
Consultant in Acute Medicine
We are looking for 2 new post holders to join a team of 13 existing Acute Physicians in the Acute Medicine Directorate at University Hospitals Dorset (UHD) and support the further development of our consultant-led acute assessment, early discharge and Same Day Emergency Care (SDEC) service.
UHD has Acute Medical Units (AMU) on both the Royal Bournemouth Hospital (RBH) site and the Poole Hospital site and medical takes will continue each site over the next 18 months to 2 years as the organisation works towards delivering on the Dorset Clinical Services Review and aligning all Emergency work at the Major Emergency Hospital (on the current RBH site). The successful candidates would be expected to work cross site as we manage the transition to a single AMU and Medical SDEC on the Emergency site.
The successful candidates will work closely with the Emergency Department consultants, the medical specialties and the AMU staff on each hospital site to deliver optimum patient care and ensure we remain at the forefront of Acute Medicine.
Applicants are expected to have a broad experience in medicine, to be able to manage appropriate patients in an Ambulatory Emergency Care setting and to support colleagues to manage their patients in a similar way. There will be the opportunity to develop an area of special interest in line with existing services within the department.
