DWP. Digital with Purpose.

DWP is the UK's largest government department. We help people into work and make payments worth over £195bn a year to support some of the most vulnerable people in our society.

We are looking for a Senior Service Manager with ServiceNow experience to join our community of digital experts. You'll be supporting a live service for our Cyber Security teams as we take on a once-in-a-generation transformation of government services.

We're using fresh ideas and leading-edge technologies to build and maintain innovative, scalable and user-centric digital solutions that will be used by nearly every person in the UK, at key moments in their lives.

The scale of what we do is extraordinary, and our purpose is unique. We'd love you to join us.

Delivery. Work. Projects.

As a Senior Service Manager you will support our Cyber Security Ecosystem by identifying, protecting against, and recovering from security threats across the largest government IT estate in the UK. You'll be protecting UK citizens' data, as well as upholding our welfare system.

This is a technically focused ServiceNow based Service Management position, focusing on supporting the building and maturity of the SecurePlace platform using ITIL based methodologies.

You will collaborate with Product, Risk and Compliance colleagues, building effective working relationships so that we're all lined up with DWP's overarching Digital Security strategy.

You know how to use formal methodologies to manage risk in an enterprise environment like ours. And you can work and communicate with senior stakeholders so that they make good, informed decisions.

You'll be part of a brilliant ITSM community of practice, with support, coaching, mentoring and formal learning in whatever blend works best for you.

We're a trusted community in DWP and you will be empowered to utilise your expertise to respond to challenges and mitigate risk.

What skills, knowledge and experience will you need?

  • Experience of managing large IT Products and Services in Production environments.
  • Expert knowledge of ServiceNow platform and a solid understanding of security technologies and solutions, with experience of complex data.
  • Demonstrable experience of leading on complex process management within a Service Management Framework e.g. ITIL.
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of Digital Products and Services, specifically around identification and delivery of requirements to operate a platform management process.
  • Extensive experience in building and developing effective
working relationships with varied senior stakeholders
  • Experience of managing risk through formal methodologies in
    an enterprise environment.

Details. Wages. Perks.

You'll join us in your choice of our brilliant digital hubs, based in either Blackpool, Birmingham, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle or Sheffield.

We have all the tools and tech we need to enable our people to work flexibly. We work a hybrid model with a mix of home working and some time in the office.

In return for your skills, we offer competitive pay from £52,512 to £63,517.

You'll be eligible for a brilliant civil service pension with employer contributions of 28.97%, worth up to £18,400 a year.

You'll get a brilliant leave package starting at 26 days, rising to 31 over time, plus all the usual bank holidays. And the option to take extra days off on flexi leave.

We also have a broad benefits package built around your work-life balance which includes:

  • Flexible working, flexi hours and flexi days
  • Hybrid working: some time in a hub with the team, some time at home
  • Family-friendly policies
  • Time off volunteering and charitable giving
