Wiltshire College & University Centre is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Media Technician to support our talented lecturers and students at our Chippenham campus.


Media Technician - Key Responsibilities:



  • Technical Assistance: Provide hands-on support to staff and students during film and VFX projects.



  • Student Support: Contribute to student learning through informal and formal training sessions, offering valuable feedback on their creative concepts.



  • Equipment Management: Oversee the maintenance and procurement of specialist equipment, ensuring our television studio and broadcast gear are always ready for action.



  • Workshop Preparation: Assist in setting up and dismantling workshop assessments, making sure all equipment is in top condition for each session.



  • Safety First: Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workspace, ensuring the health and safety of all students when using equipment and materials.



  • Innovation and Maintenance: Advise on and implement modifications to existing equipment, design and construct new tools as required, and carry out routine maintenance and adjustments.



  • Inventory Management: Keep detailed records of equipment and materials, manage stock levels, and ensure timely replacement of necessary items.



  • Cross-College Collaboration: Provide support to other technician teams across the college as needed.


Media Technician - You:


To apply, you will hold:



  • Level 2 (GCSE A-C) qualification or equivalent in English and Maths.



  • A level 3 qualification in a relevant subject.



  • Experience with media production equipment, both in filming and VFX.



  • The ability to engage with and support students, fostering their growth and creativity.



  • Strong skills in inventory management, equipment maintenance, and workshop setup.



  • A willingness to collaborate with various departments and contribute to a cohesive educational environment.



  • A driving license, with a willingness to work towards obtaining a D1 license for assisting with trips and visits.
