Description: We are seeking a highly qualified specialist with a passion for helping students with Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLDs) work effectively in a higher education setting in the presence of their condition.
As a self-employed Specialist Study Skills Tutor, you will play a crucial role in empowering students to develop effective study strategies to achieve their full potential.
Role Responsibilities:
• Delivering tailored one-to-one study skills support to students with SpLDs or similar conditions.
• Developing and implementing personalised support plans, with clear goals for reducing levels of support to enable independence where appropriate.
• Teaching effective study strategies to overcome barriers to learning.
• Maintaining accurate records of student progress.
Essential Requirements:
• Professional/Associate membership of one of the following:
o The Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS)
o British Dyslexia Association (BDA)
o The Association of Dyslexia Specialists in Higher Education (ADSHE)*
* Affiliate Membership and Professional Assessor Membership of ADSHE does not confer eligibility to deliver this role.
o Dyslexia Guild (DG)*
*Affiliate and Affiliate Online membership of the Dyslexia Guild does not confer eligibility to deliver this role.
• In-depth knowledge of SpLDs and their impact on learning.
• Experience providing study skills support to students with Learning Disabilities.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage a caseload of students.
