Instrument Technician
Description
We are currently seeking an instrument technician to join our small team of skilled engineers manufacturing industrial endoscopes at our factory in Burgess Hill. This is a varied role, involving all stages of the manufacturing process, from machining/modifying components through to assembly and inspection.
Responsibilities will include:
- Manufacturing components to tight tolerances.
- Assembling optical systems and mechanical assemblies.
- Inspecting components made externally.
- Ensuring finished instruments conform to specifications.
- Evaluating instruments returned for repair.
- Completing and filing the necessary paperwork.
Skills, experience, and qualifications
Due to the specialised nature of the work, some training will be given; however, candidates must demonstrate a solid background in engineering. Experience using manual lathes and milling machines would be highly advantageous. The role would suit someone who has completed an apprenticeship in mechanical engineering.
Desired experience and skills:
- Professional experience using manual lathes and milling machines.
- Experience using a variety of machine and hand tools, such as pillar drills, bench grinders, taps, and files.
- Experience using measuring equipment, such as micrometers, callipers, and height gauges.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Experience working under a microscope.
- Good numeracy and literacy.
- Ability to solve technical problems and work independently.
- Good organisation and communication.
If you don’t tick all the boxes but feel that you have transferable skills, please get in touch.
