Overview of role
Ethics & Compliance (E&C) are central to the success of Mott MacDonald and we are now looking to expand our E&C team with a new global role of Group Integrity & Investigations Manager. This role will offer support to the Group Ethics & Compliance Officer (GECO) managing the development, effective implementation and maintenance of the global structures comprising the E&C programme within Mott MacDonald.
As a member of the Group Legal Department, the role reports directly to the GECO and via the Group General Counsel to the Executive Board. Candidates must have deep E&C programme experience along with good investigative skills, and a firm understanding of relevant laws, regulations, and regulatory bodies.
Working closely with the Group Ethics & Compliance Officer (GECO), Group/Regional Legal and E&C teams and other business teams to:
- Assist in designing, building, enhancing and maintaining the Mott MacDonald Group E&C Programme;
- Embed the Mott MacDonald Group E&C Programme in the four main regions;
- Act as risk lead and subject matter expert on Bribery, Fraud, Sanctions, Export Controls and Competition.
- Support compliance monitoring reviews and investigations into E&C matters as required;
- Ensure that E&C recommendations arising from audits, investigations and assurance activities are captured and actioned;
- Supporting the GECO to maintain the group wide Speak Up process and to support the co-ordination of investigations where necessary;
- Conduct investigations arising from Speak Up cases including employee misconduct, fraud, bribery, and other violations of Our Code;
- Respond to questions arising from our Due Diligence process on sanctions risk;
- Maintain and enhance country specific guidance related to bribery, money laundering and sanctions risk;
- Develop controls and training for Export Control compliance;
- Manages the coordination and flow of all E&C management information through reporting across all E&C matters and teams up to and including the Executive Board;
- Identify KPIs and provide a periodic assessment of the effectiveness of the Mott MacDonald E&C programme;
- Act as role model for Mott MacDonald’s PRIDE Values, ethics and values-based decision making;
- Deputise for the GECO as appropriate;
- Maintain current knowledge of laws and regulations, keeping abreast of projected and recent changes;
- Provide guidance to senior management, staff, and employees on E&C.
Candidate Specification
Essential
- Development and management of an anti-corruption program, demonstrating a clear understanding of ethical practices.
- Proficiency in managing and adhering to ISO37001 compliance standards.
- Comprehensive knowledge of global E&C risk-related laws and regulations, including those concerning bribery, fraud, anti-money laundering, competition, export controls, and trade sanctions.
- Advisory experience in E&C matters within large multinational or public sector organizations, encompassing a wide range of business activities.
- Operational experience at a global or regional headquarters of a multinational corporation.
- Familiarity with external regulatory requirements and the ability to manage and meet external expectations.
- Discretion in handling confidential information, with a steadfast commitment to ethical standards and professional integrity.
Desirable
- Exceptional interpersonal abilities, coupled with strong attention to detail and analytical skills, enabling the interpretation of complex compliance issues to all stakeholders.
- Capacity to create positive relationships at all organizational levels, up to and including the Executive Board.
- Ability to quickly absorb and interpret information, with the capability to clarify complex legal, regulatory, and policy requirements.
- Confidence in managing diverse workloads, taking autonomous actions, and meeting tight deadlines while managing others' expectations.
- Confidence and self-awareness, with a readiness to identify personal knowledge gaps and a drive for continuous professional development.
- Advanced IT and administrative skills, with extensive experience in Microsoft Office applications such as Word, SharePoint, Excel, and PowerBI.
- Experience in operating within an Enterprise Risk Management Framework and performing compliance monitoring and controls testing.
