Summary

Neway are looking for a Housing Inclusion Project Officer to join our client based with Central Bedfordshire Council.

This role is starting on the 12th of August, initially for a 6 month contract, working 37 hours a week. Paying £17 an hour PAYE

Purpose:
The Housing Inclusion Project Officer will serve as the main point of contact for council housing tenants impacted by the Repurposing project, which aims to maximize the allocation of council tenants to new purpose-built, affordable rent apartments for people aged 55+ and implement change of use options for vacated dwellings. This role involves significant interaction with tenants and collaboration across various operational teams.

Main Responsibilities:
Tenant Engagement: Act as the primary contact for tenants benefiting from or affected by the Repurposing project. Provide advice on affordability and income maximization, and assist with the viewing and moving process.
Promotion: Promote knowledge about new housing schemes using various communication channels in liaison with the communications team.
Application Process: Liaise with operational teams to ensure a smooth and fast-tracked application assessment and move-in process.
Issue Resolution: Listen to tenant concerns and aspirations, and coordinate with relevant teams to address any issues.
Data Recording: Accurately record the outcomes of tenant interactions and use insights to inform decisions on housing stock usage.
Repurposing Vacated Dwellings: Work to repurpose vacated dwellings to meet the needs of homeless and younger households, and identify opportunities to incentivize moves for other tenants.
Flexibility: Adapt to shifting operational pressures and evolving project aims, while maintaining a focus on housing-management project work.
Skills and Experience:
Housing Management Experience: Demonstrable experience in housing management.
Relationship Building: Ability to build and manage relationships with colleagues, customers, and advocates.
Allocation Criteria: Understanding of the allocation criteria for new housing schemes, with training provided as needed.
Financial Advice: Experience in assessing affordability and providing income maximization advice is advantageous.
Communication: Ability to manage expectations and communicate difficult information clearly and respectfully.
