What you'll do
You’re joining a team that’s passionate about the customer vision and innovating all aspects of our customers’ day to day needs. Aligned to our ‘Manage My Money’ customer goal, you’ll be working with your colleagues to deliver the technology strategic roadmap, while ensuring the right balance between our business goals and building future technology, at the right cost.
As a Site Reliability Engineer, you’ll work alongside application support colleagues along with feature team members to meet defined service level objectives and continually improve systems and environments. You’ll proactively contribute new ideas and innovations to meet both short term and longer term goals whilst at the same time balancing and managing risk. You’ll also be accountable for the day-to-day health of production, responding to incidents as required.
A typical day will involve:
- Investigating the root cause of incidents, seeking ways to prevent, mitigate and speed up mean time to resolution (MTTR)
- Ensuring third party vendors adhere to agreed SLA’s
- Applying critical thinking to evaluate third party statements, using your technical knowledge and growing knowledge of cards
- Finding opportunities to speed up resolution of customer impacting incidents
- Working with other areas in the bank to ensure that observability and monitoring is outstanding and that service management of third parties is robust
- Providing clear communication on incidents to other teams and stakeholders
- Implementing solutions to automate manual tasks undertaken by the application management team
- Leading the take on application releases, using your knowledge to help delivery teams avoid causing customer impacting incidents
- Ensuring services have effective automated production monitoring in place
The skills you'll need
We’re looking for someone with strong ethos of putting the customer first. You’ll need experience of using a data driven and methodical approach to fact finding. We’ll also look for financial services knowledge, and the ability to identify wider business impact, risk and opportunity, and make connections across key outputs and processes.
You'll also need:
- Knowledge and experience of Java Selenium, or similar scripting languages, and the willingness to learn and develop those skills
- Strong knowledge of ITIL principles, and awareness of their importance for Incident, change management and configuration management
- Experience of utilising monitoring tools and technology such as Splunk
- Experience of working with third party suppliers to recover services, service delivery and adhering to SLA’s
- Knowledge of IT security principles along with tools and techniques to prevent compliance breaches including dealing with primary account number details
- Strong communication skills with the ability to proactively engage with a wide range of stakeholders
