Are you interested in working as a Buyer for a leading supplier of analytical instruments, clinical development solutions, specialty diagnostics, laboratory, pharmaceutical and biotechnology services?
If you have knowledge and experience of purchasing/inventory management in a distribution environment, as well as inventory management systems and methods we want to speak with you!
The successful candidates will manage a portfolio of products and suppliers in the dedicated category at European level, managing the inventory plan, purchase order process as well as manage and optimise supplier delivery performance.
You will join our clients team on a 12 month contract basis initially working 9-5 Mon to Thursday, and 9-4 on Fridays / hybrid options available.
Responsibilities:
- Participate to design and implement new processes and refine existing processes
- Identify problems, produce and analyse data
- Document solutions and escalate to senior buyers when necessary.
- Ensure service level targets (fill rate, availability) are met
- Effectively manage all purchasing and associated operational aspects of inventory management
- Establish and build effective relationships with suppliers and stakeholders within the business.
- Track Shipments of purchase orders and take necessary actions in case of unusual delay.
- Manage the data flow through each stage of a purchase order
- Provide updates to changed delivery dates and ensure the orders are dispatched
- Review the delivery times that need to be improved to avoid shortages
- Embrace and participate in PPI initiatives to identify improvements and cost savings to the business
- Make recommendations for reports/processes improvements
- Manage the processing of delivery issues from suppliers in collaboration with the different warehouses
- Contribute to the accuracy of the data in the system (raising tickets when necessary)
- Maintain a high level of internal customer service, supporting customer services and other business functions when required.
- Manage and drive improved supplier performance, using metrics
- Manage the weekly calls with suppliers to review performance and initiate/manage get well plans.
- Be autonomous in supplier relationship
- Be proactive by contributing to improve the supplier performance report
Experience / Qualifications:
- CIPS preferred but not essential
- Knowledge and experience of purchasing/inventory management in a distribution environment
- Knowledge and experience of inventory management systems and methods
- Excellent analytical skills / Intermediate excel user
- Supplier negotiation experience to influence supplier performance
- Ability to communicate effectively, both written and verbally
- Ability to work independently as well as effectively in a team environment.
- Demonstrable organisational skills, ability to multi-task and attention-to-detail.
- Ability to quickly and accurately process and analyse large volumes of data, produce conclusions and make accurate decisions based on facts
- Demonstrates ability to independently take ownership of initiatives and drive execution
- Ability to work under tight deadlines and demonstrate flexibility with priorities
- Excellent time management and prioritisation skills that will enable you to manage workload within the constraints of customer services, distops, finance etc
