Job Description - SHORE Housing Officer
Location: Council Offices, Hamilton
Working Hours - 14 hours per week

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced individual to join the Sustainable Housing on Release for Everyone (SHORE) team within Hamilton.

As a Housing Officer you will be responsible for delivering a wide range of housing services to our customers therefore, you should have experience of working within a housing related environment and have an understanding of current issues and legislation in relation to homelessness, allocations, estate management, rent recovery and dealing with anti- social behaviour.

This post will be involved in providing face to face housing options advice to prisoners within HMP Barlinnie and HMP Addiewell, ensuring tenancy sustainment where possible or developing housing plans to prevent homelessness.

The Housing Officer will require to undertake training within the prison establishments which will include personal protection training. The Housing Officer will then provide housing options casework and plan for a positive housing outcome. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance of policy and procedures by monitoring and auditing information and ensuring that complaints are processed according to standards. Excellent IT skills are required as well as the ability to organise and prioritise workload in an effective way and to respond and adapt to changing priorities required in delivering a quality service.

An excellent opportunity has arisen within the Housing Advice team for an experienced individual to provide advice and information on housing issues to our local teams within the Integrated Housing Options Teams as well as to other services.

As a Housing Officer you will be knowledgeable and provide comprehensive advice and support, liaising with internal and external agencies as appropriate. The post will be provided through office based cover / hybrid working. You will contribute to the continuous development of Integrated Housing Options approach and assist with any training requirements to support staff. You should have excellent IT and organisational skills and be familiar with Housing related IT systems.
