The Role & Key Responsibilities

It is our mission to identify and protect vulnerable people, prevent and respond to harm and keep people safe.

In this role you will be playing a key part in Sussex Police's reactive and proactive response to identify corruption or those at risk of corruption.

You will support the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) through enhancing access to systems and the technology used for audit work, identifying innovative ways to proactively detect corruption through ICT systems and system monitoring software.

You will be responsible for managing and auditing police employees’ use of the force systems to detect computer misuse, disclosure of information or other misconduct for PSD and ACU development work.

You will establish strong internal relationships to ensure the ACU and PSD keep up to date with technological developments providing coverage and capability to audit new systems, devices and software.

Your work will help proactively ascertain those who are risk to the organisation and the public. You will be responsible for identifying those risks through audits and implementing immediate measures to reduce those risks.

You will be responsible for reviewing contents of intelligence reports regarding corruption into ACU with a view to validating or revising the handling evaluation code, sanitising the intelligence and ensuring it is able to be safely disseminated according to threat and risk posed.

Skills & Experience
Recent and relevant experience within an intelligence environment.

Good knowledge of the intelligence process and cycle, including the National Intelligence Model.

Proven experience in collating and assessing information and making concise and accurate recommendations based on assessments with excellent attention to detail.

Excellent communication skills, written and oral, with ability to negotiate and deliver presentations.

Experience of thinking laterally, with strong problem-solving skills.

Strong team ethos with experience of working without direct supervision and demonstrates a high level of self-management, motivation, drive and determination.

Previous experience of working in a security conscious environment with Restricted and Confidential material. Understanding of handling and movement of such documents and able to recognise and deal appropriately with sensitive information.

Able to demonstrate an understanding of relevant legislation e.g., Data Protection, MOPI, CPIA & HRA

Training on local Sussex Police systems, Inc. Niche Intelligence system, Niche Intel Portal, PRONTO, STORM, CORESTORM, NICE, SAP, Interflex, Office 365/eDiscovery (incoming), Command & Control system, ANPR system, PNC, PND.

Displays excellent written communication skills and has experience of assimilating large volumes of data and writing complex research-based reports summarising technical findings in non-technical terms.

Proficient in using Microsoft excel application. Proficiency in using other Microsoft Office applications such as Power point, Word and Outlook and business intelligence tools such as Power BI.

Ability to learn, manipulate and utilise unfamiliar software programs with limited initial training or support.

Experience in innovative and creative practices to analyse large amounts of data to reach sound and proportionate conclusions.

Ability to rapidly develop operational and technical knowledge of police software and systems.
