We are seeking a Community Nursery Nurse who is motivated, someone who is passionate about providing children and families with a high standard of care, to join our ABC Parents Team.

Main duties of the job
You will be supporting the ABC Parents team in the delivery of their parent education and engagement programme to parents/carers with children aged 0-5 years. Working within a skill mix team you will promote parental emotional and physical health and wellbeing, providing high quality health promotion, screening and prevention to children mainly under 5 years.
The post holder will deliver workshops, organise and facilitate parent groups, provide parent education and other targeted interventions as delegated by the ABC Parents Clinical Leads and under the supervision of the Health Visiting Leads.
North Middlesex University Hospital NHS Trust is a medium sized District General Hospital based in Edmonton in Enfield, North London. We serve a diverse multicultural population largely from the London boroughs of Enfield and Haringey. Many of our patients live in wards that are within the 5% most deprived in the UK and a large proportion of our patients were born abroad. This makes it both a fascinating and a challenging hospital and community to work in.
In addition to ABC Parents Programme, our Community Division comprises of the 0-19 Service, Health Visitor and School Nursing services, that deliver the Healthy Child Programme. This new community-based role will work with NMUH maternity, neonatal and community division services as well as statutory and voluntary sector organisations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• To deliver workshops in community settings and virtual on coproduced topics in line with the Healthy Child Programme and local health and wellbeing priorities.
• To organise and facilitate drop-in groups for local parents and carers to provide infant feeding advice, peer networking and practical support particularly addressing health inequalities.
• To be responsible for specified aspects of infant feeding in-line with assessments, referring and escalating concerns and arranging follow-up as required in accordance with agreed protocols.
• To assist local health visitors in the implementation individual care plans and the maintenance of own RIO progress notes.
• To support Health Visitors in child health clinics in-line with ABC Parents priorities, parent education and group work activities.
• To undertake other relevant duties as delegated by the Clinical Leads.
• To be familiar with Children’s Centres and local programmes to facilitate parents in accessing the Children Centre Community Services and other local initiatives.
Communication
• Dealing with sensitive or contentious information.
• To participate in identified meetings as directed and feedback information as appropriate.
• To participate in multi-agency working and develop links with local nurseries/schools, local GP surgeries and community organisations in order to facilitate effective information sharing.
• To assist in developing and maintaining good working relationships with all colleagues, clients and carers.
• To be conversant with the Trust’s Child Protection Procedures, referring any concerns to the Clinical Leads or Health Visitors.
Patient/Customer Care(if applicable) (both direct and indirect)
• To contribute to the development and implementation of programmes of education/ care/support for children, young people, families and carers under the guidance of Clinical Leads or Health Visitor Leads.
• To identify children who may require more support and refer to relevant professionals to meet the needs of children and families.
• Undertaking growth monitoring and assessment in community settings including well baby clinics and schools.
• To contribute to the identification of the Public Health needs of individuals and communities; and working within specified agreed national and local targets.
• To contribute to the planning, and implementation of effective health promotion and health education programmes for client group within communities to support Public Health Outcomes.
People Management
• To participate in local induction and support onboarding of other staff.
• To work with trained volunteers to support families and offer mentoring according to Project Coordinator.
• To record attendance and report any programme or individual needs relating to individuals, help identify any support or training needs.
Information Management
• Regular requirement to create reports
• Responsible for the maintenance of own record keeping including where required, on patient record information system (RIO) and to adhere to record keeping standards in accordance with Trust guidelines.
• To have excellent computer skills and be willing to undertake Information Technology training, to develop skills in electronic record keeping and data collection/collation.
Policy Development
• To participate and contribute to research, audit and evaluation of new ways of working.
• To adhere to all Trust policies, procedural guidelines and current legislation including relevant VCS partner policies.
Service Development
• To participate and contribute to developing practices or protocols.
• To coproduce ABC Parents initiatives in collaboration with local families, community organisations and partnerships.
Personal development
• To take part in the annual appraisal of work activities, agreeing objectives and a personal development plan in line with the Trust’s Policy.
• Attend mandatory training and other training programmes as requested by the line manager/ professional development lead or as directed according to Service needs.
• Attend management and safeguarding supervision as per Trust policy.
• Ensure regular updates and development for Infant Feeding, particularly breastfeeding and support Baby Friendly Initiative standards.
Systems and Equipment
• To maintain equipment and report to senior staff when there is any malfunction
• To be aware of Health and Safety hazards in the working environment and report them to a senior member of staff.
• To be aware of Trust policies and procedures with regards to Health and Safety, Infection Control, Safeguarding and risk assessments.

• Occasional purchasing and transportation of refreshments and materials required for workshops, courses or meetings.

• Frequent concentration to complete assessment and analysis of client need, support operational data and analysis, generating reports in line with project activities.
• Work pattern altering to meet service need and prioritising work issues accordingly with changes faced (flexibility to include evening and weekend working will be required).
• Car driving for liaison with community organisations, agencies, attend meetings and training.
• Sitting moderate periods in the office when using visual display units / writing records / correspondence.
• Creating parent education resources and doing research to deliver relevant topics in workshops and courses as organised by ABC Parents.
