Summary

Working as part of a team to produce customer mailings, enclosing designated documentation as appropriate using an automated process. To facilitate the operator and Area leader in achieving optimum production output and ensuring all work which has been quality checked is done according to the written SOP’s, quality procedures or forms to which the mail sorter has been fully trained and deemed competent.

Duties

• Complete line set-ups in line with timescales given.
• Ensure stock is correctly loaded as detailed on works instruction to allow automated enclosing.
• Ensure machine is set correctly and running at the stated speed or faster.
• Ensure you record the reasons and stock codes if your machine is not cycling at the stated speed on touch screen system.
• Ensure all quality checks have been performed timely and appropriately.
• Check correct stock is present as detailed on works instruction, notifying Area Leader of any missing, incomplete or spoiled stock items.
• Ensure you have enough stock to complete the job within 5 minutes of job starting, if not inform team leader immediately.
• Retrieval and sorting of stock as detailed on works instruction.
• Return any stock to the back to stock area.
• Carry out hourly checks on the seg system to ensure all bays are correct in terms of seg and number of scanned trays.
• Ensure container tracking procedure is adhered too.
• Assist in the training of new Production Operators.
• Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures and Safe Systems of Work are available for all tasks carried out where necessary and are up to date.
• Ensure departmental housekeeping is maintained to required standards
• Ensure adherence by self & department to Company security, Quality, Environmental, Health & Safety and FSC / PEFC Chain of Custody standards at all times.

Required knowledge, skills or experience

• Knowledge / experience in manufacturing / supply chain environment
• Understanding of customer requirements
• Understanding / awareness of continuous improvement techniques
• Basic technical & mechanical knowledge
• Good communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and & too strict deadlines
• Good time management
• Committed and flexible team worker
• Adaptable
• Ability to be proactive and use initiative

Additional Information

Location: Seaham

Hours of work:
• 37.5 hours per week on a 3 Shift Rotation:
• Days - Monday to Thurs 7.00am to 3.30pm, Fri 7.00 to 12.30pm
• Lates - 3.30pm to 12.00am, Friday 12.30pm to 6.00pm
• Nights - Sun 10.00pm to 7am Mon to Thurs 12am to 7.00am

Rates of pay:
• £12 per hour for day shift
• £12.75 per hour for 3 shift Rotation
