Summary
McMullen and Sons Ltd, a progressive, family-owned pub retailer and brewer principally trading in the Home Counties and London are looking to recruit an Estates Manager.
Job Summary:
To assist the Property Director with the management of the Company’s licenced and ancillary property portfolio support to maximise financial return and protect the Company’s property assets.
Key Duties:
- Maintain the Company’s inhouse database and records and provide regular reports to the Property Director
- Support the Company with professional advice on service charges, leases and ownership queries
- Seek new tenants for ancillary property and let on the best available terms.
- Plan the annual budget for the ancillary estate and monitor and manage performance.
- Supervise the use of external professionals including managing agents, rating and planning consultants, engineers, surveyors, architects and contractors in respect of the ancillary estate.
- Inspect all ancillary property
- Identify the requirement for planning permission and other approvals in relation to developments and property changes and, where necessary in conjunction with external advisors, to acquire such permissions and approvals.
- Identify risks and resolve challenges related to property title, neighbour nuisance or disputes.
- Keep abreast of changes to legislation that may affect the ancillary property portfolio.
- Support the Property Director with disposals of premises
The company owns a varied property portfolio (mainly freehold) split between the licensed pub trading estate and ancillary trading properties which comprises a brewery, offices, former banks, commercial and residential assets and land.
Key performance indicators:

- Income growth, profitability and capital growth from ancillary properties.
- Delivery of budgeted position.
- Protection of ownership rights.
- Company reputation
This position is office based in Hertford and applicant must have a valid driving licence for the job to be carried out competently
