We are looking for a creative, energetic, inclusive, and imaginative Social History Curator to join the team at Renfrewshire Museums Service.
You will join us at an exciting stage as we prepare for the reopening of Paisley Museum following a significant capital redevelopment. The £45m project is Scotland’s biggest cultural heritage project and is due to reopen in 2025. It will reveal the stories associated with the internationally significant museum collection and the people of Renfrewshire. Your work will make a direct and tangible contribution to the redevelopment of the Museum by working with staff, stakeholders, and audiences to co-produce an exciting new public programme and greater access to the collections.
The reopened museum will cast new light on our internationally significant collections and the experiences of the people of Paisley and Renfrewshire. You will play a central role in developing the collections and their interpretation by building on the best practice developed during the project, including in-depth research and audience-centred interpretation. We are committed to co-production and collaboration and the successful candidate will be expected to pro-actively identify and explore new perspectives and interpretations of the collections to ensure that we are a fully inclusive and representative museum.
Closing date: 18 August 2024
Interview Date: To Be Confirmed
To arrange an informal discussion on the role, please contact Susan Jeffrey, Research and Collections Co-ordinator, at susan.jeffrey@renfrewshire.gov.uk
