As a General Engineering Workshop Team Leader, you will lead a multi disciplined team, motivating and encouraging the team in the performance of its duties in order that customer and production requirements are achieved on time, within specified cost, to the correct quality and safety standards taking into account protocols referenced by all ASI (Approved Source Information). This role requires 100% site attendance.

This role requires you to have lived in the UK for the last 5 years and obtain Security Check (SC) security clearance. Clearance must be obtained without any caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role you’ve been recruited for. If it isn’t obtained, or is obtained but with caveats that prevent you from carrying out the role, any conditional offer made to you will be withdrawn. Obtaining SC security clearance can be a lengthy process, and we reserve the right to withdraw any conditional offer made if the necessary security clearance isn’t obtained within 12 months.
Job description
Providing engineering support to production tasks by investigating and resolving identified issues raised by production staff, management, suppliers and customers.
First-line management of a multi-disciplined workforce in the General Engineering Workshop.
Advise management on the required production resources required and availability to undertake all tasking via input into weekly MPS (Master Production Scheduling) meetings.
Perform Quality Control and stage inspection of productive output; carry out quality control checks to ensure personnel under their authority observe and comply with the requirements laid down in Quality Procedures and ASI as appropriate to all tasks in all work areas.
Lead and inspire the team to meet standards laid out by various bodies in order that they are achieved within required timescales, to the prescribed quality, delivery requirements and cost.
Agree daily and weekly production targets for the team, allocating work and effectively managing work patterns.
Recommend improvements in processes and procedures when appropriate and co-operate in the introduction and use of new technology and methods of working as required.
Must be willing to undertake training on Joint Asset Management and Engineering Solutions (JAMES), as well as internal Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) and MOD systems.
Person specification
Essential Criteria:
BTEC/ONC/recognised engineering apprenticeship, or military equivalent qualification and experience
Team leader experience
Ability to communicate at all levels both verbally and written
PC literate with the ability to use various IT systems including Microsoft Office Suite
