ICHT seeks to appoint to two positions for 1 year Clinical Fellow in Reproductive Medicine. The positions will provide specialist Reproductive Medicine care and IVF at The Wolfson Fertility Centre at Hammersmith Hospital. The main day to day duties will involve supporting the outpatient consultations, investigative and treatment scans, supporting the egg collection procedures and taking part in the daily results meetings. There will be learning opportunities such as supporting the embryo transfer procedures.



He/she will also have reached at least ST6+ through their specialist training and be registered with the GMC with a license to practice. It is desirable to also hold the relevant Royal College membership.

The post holder will support the provision of both outpatient and inpatient pathways. They will split their time between the support of outpatient consultations (which are provided virtually), both investigative and treatment ultrasound sonography, daycase egg collection procedures and supporting the embryo transfer lists. They will also attend daily results meetings with the rest of the multi-disciplinary team and ensure the appropriate governance over the HFEA regulated IVF care within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust infertility service via their accurate and timely documentation of clinical care.



One role will involve supporting the on call rota, which offers a 1:6 frequency and the other available role does not involve any on call support.

• Provide High Quality Care to Patients in Obstetrics & Gynaecology


• The post holder must be medically qualified and maintain GMC specialist registration.
• To help deliver a professional, caring and effective programme of Reproductive Medicine
• To develop and maintain the competencies required to carry out the duties required of the post.
• To ensure prompt attendance at agreed direct clinical care Programmed Activities.
• To ensure patients are involved in decisions about their care and to respond to their views.
• To broaden experience in all aspects of Reproductive Medicine including assisted conception, recurrent miscarriage and endocrinology
• Participate in clinical audit and clinical effectiveness within the Women’s and Children’s Directorate





Research, Teaching and Training


• Where possible to collaborate with academic and clinical colleagues to enhance the Trust’s translational research portfolio, at all times meeting the full requirements of Research Governance.
• To provide high quality teaching to medical undergraduates and members of other health care professions in the filed of assisted conception as required by the /Clinical Director.
• To act as educational supervisor and appraiser as delegated by the CPG Director/Clinical Director to ensure external accreditation of training post.



Performance Management



To work with medical, nursing and managerial colleagues to ensure high performance in the following areas:
• Clinical efficiency e.g. LOS reductions, reducing cancelled operations and DNA rates.
• Quality of outcomes e.g. infection control targets, reducing re-admission rates
• Financial management e.g. identification, implementation and achievement of cost improvement programmes and participating in efforts to ensure services are provided cost effectively e.g. managing locum agency spend, monitoring and managing the drug budget to target, ensuring accuracy of clinical data for the team
• Operational efficiency e.g. day-case rates, waiting list activity and demand management.





Research Opportunities



Excellent research opportunities are available throughout the Trust and with Imperial College. As The Trust supports and has facilitated a large number of Honorary Academic appointments with Imperial College Faculty of Medicine an Honorary Academic Appointment with Imperial College Faculty of Medicine will be offered if research and/or teaching is undertaken.



The post holder will be expected and supported to develop research initiatives, appropriate to previous experience and complementary to those programmes that exist within the wider research framework of the Directorate and Trust and will be expected to contribute to national database collection and recruit to national trials.

A number of funding opportunities are available from the Biomedical Research Centre, the Trust Research Committee and from NIHR. In addition there are opportunities for research funding from the Medical Research Council, BBSRC, the Wellcome Trust and other medical charities.
