We are looking to appoint motivated and enthusiastic Band 4 Nursery Nurse who is hard working and willing to learn and develop their knowledge and skills. The successful candidate will be expected to work in line with the Trust values where professionalism and confidentiality are maintained at all times. You should be able to demonstrate the necessary knowledge and skills to fulfil this role. We currently have a part-time vacancy at the Barnet neonatal unit, which is a Level 2 LNU with 30 cots including Intensive care and High dependency cots; with a friendly, motivated, and a dynamic team that promote Family Integrated Care. We work very closely with Royal Free Hospital which is our sister hospital, with a Level 1 SCBU with 12 Special Care and 2 HDU costs. You will have the opportunity to rotate between the two units as a means of developing your skills.
The main duties of this role are:
• Deliver direct patient care to babies.
• Clear communication with parents and colleagues.
• Help and support parents, keeping them updated about their babies.
• Teach and support students and new staff.
• Escalate concerns appropriately.
• Take part in quality improvement projects on the unit.
• Complete timely discharge planning for babies on the unit.

• To undertake all nursing procedures and practises in accordance with Neonatal Unit polices and in conjunction with the Trust's policies.
• To assess, plan and implement nursing care in negotiation with the family, and multi-disciplinary team to ensure individualised nursing care.
• To evaluate nursing care, facilitate discussion with the multi-disciplinary team and implement appropriate nursing developments in the best interest of the baby and family.
• To always act in a manner to promote the wellbeing of the baby and family and undertake personal and clinical development to ensure safe practise.
• To assist medical staff in the treatment and care of babies.
• To communicate effectively with the multi-disciplinary team and families.
• To maintain accurate and comprehensive nursing records, using appropriate documentation, and ensure their confidentiality and safe keeping.
• To organise workload in line with clinical priorities.
• To always behave in a manner that is professional, positive, and polite.
