INFORMATION ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT We are inviting applicants to join our busy but welcoming neonatal team as a Trust Doctor based at the Leeds General Infirmary in West Yorkshire. Posts are available from September 2024 for an initial period of 6 months. This role is suitable for applicants at ST1/2 LST with experience in neonates and paediatrics. It is ideally suited to candidates wishing to work in a large teaching hospital which provides many specialist services and is ideal for anyone wishing to pursue a career in neonatology. Leeds Childrens Hospital is based within a large Teaching Hospital catering for a population of over 1 million people and up to 3 million people in the wider region. We deliver care for, and training in, a wide range of paediatric specialties, including neonatology, paediatric intensive care, congenital cardiology and cardiac surgery, neurology, haematology & oncology, endocrinology, diabetes, rheumatology, respiratory and cystic fibrosis, nephrology , gastroenterology , hepatology , general surgery and urology and general paediatrics. The Leeds Centre for Newborn Care is one of the largest neonatal services in the UK. We provide specialist care to around 1,700 babies each year, many of whom need intensive care or surgery. We care for babies from the whole of the Yorkshire region (the largest network in the UK with 42,000 deliveries per year) and beyond. MEDICAL STAFF IN THE DEPARTMENT The multidisciplinary team is made up of variety of staff including nurses, junior doctors, advanced nurse practitioners, clinical support workers, housekeepers, ward clerks, nursery nurses, specialist allied health professionals, pharmacists and consultants. DUTIES OF THE POST Participating in a 1 in 15 full shift rota, which includes nights and twilights. This post will deliver care to paediatric patients on wards, liaising with colleagues in other specialties and hospitals, seeing acutely sick children and clerking in new patient, composing discharge summaries and requesting investigation. LEVELS OF RESPONSIBILITY The post holder will participate in the lower grade on call rota equivalent to ST1-2 TEACHING AND RESEARCH/STUDY AND TRAINING The successful candidate will be expected to participate in departmental teaching and ward based teaching of medical students
