£43,619.30 - £45,448.20 per year inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £2,742 per annum.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Authorised Officer (Food) to join our professional and friendly team at Environmental Health within Infrastructure Services.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual, with a capacity to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines, to undertake regulatory and enforcement activity under legislation relating to food law, health and safety and public health.
As the successful candidate, you will have excellent communication and negotiation skills, as well as a sound knowledge of best practice and legislation. You would be required to assist in delivery of a premises inspection programme throughout Shetland relating to food law and workplace health and safety and to ensure that the premises inspected comply with appropriate standards.
It is essential that you hold a Scottish Food Safety Officer’s Registration Board Higher Certificate in Food Practice or equivalent. Consideration will be given to applicants if they have confirmation from REHIS that they can get on the Higher Certificate pathway.
