We are pleased to offer an opportunity for an experienced Optometrist to join our friendly team of Orthoptists, Optometrists and Ophthalmic vision Scientists on bank.This can be of full-time or part time bank hours.

You will be based at the Royal Free hospital.The successful candidate will work in paediatric Ophthalmology, Orthoptics and Glaucoma clinics and will offer Optometric support integral to the care patients at the Royal Free Hospital .


You will have opportunity to gain valuable experience in a well-supported environment, working with cases in the following:

Paediatric strabismus, Neuro ophthalmology, Adult oculomotility, Glaucoma and Stroke clinics

You will be working as part of a specialist multidisciplinary team and will be involved in the relevant MDT and Orthoptic CPD meeting that we are very proud of.

You will be encouraged to participate in clinical governance and audit activities within the team.

Applicants must have previous experience in Optometry, demonstrate that they work well within teams and deliver clinical leadership in Optometry. As well as having excellent communication and prioritisation skills and a commitment to continuing professional development.

No Smoking

The post-holder will work within a multi-disciplinary team to provide and assist with the development of theOptometric service for patients for the RFL.

JOB SUMMARY:

1. To run and manage the specialist contact lens service at RFL.



2. To work closely with Ophthalmologists the Head of service to deliver streamline pathways within the corneal service to the highest standards of quality and care.



3. To participate in the delivery of certain more complex specialist optometric services that meets the changing needs of the Directorate and other outside agencies.



4. To undertake administrative duties as required by the role undertaken.



5. To participate in clinical audit and research where appropriate.



6. To provide teaching and training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels for various disciplines within ophthalmology (ophthalmologists, medical students, ophthalmic nurses, orthoptists, and other health professionals).
