An opportunity for motivated individuals to join an award-winning industry led training scheme.
With a skill shortage in the civil engineering industry, an apprenticeship in Groundworks is a sure way to establish a career for life. We are looking for individuals who are keen to learn about Civil engineering and build a career with us.
The Groundworker apprenticeship is delivered in a “bootcamp” model – with 18-20 weeks of training at a purpose built training centre in Fareham, followed by work on site to build your portfolio and practice your skills to achieve success in the end point assessment. Whilst at the Civil Engineering Training Centre you will learn the basic skills that you will master over your career, including:
Health and Safety
How to interpret technical information and drawings
Installing drainage
Working with concrete
Installing module paving units
Safe use of power tools
Safe use of plant such as rollers and dumpers

On site you will be delivering on real projects – future homes and neighbourhoods for your community. We recognise that work on site will come with more pressure, but we offer a competitive wage for apprentices which increases significantly when on site. The site based period of the apprenticeship should last for about a year before achievement of the end point assessment whereupon you will complete the apprenticeship and be able to receive a “skilled worker” accreditation.
Wage Rates:
Under 18 18 - 21 21+
CETC Training rate £6.40 £9 £10
Site rate £8 £12 £13
Work Location – Basingstoke
Must be able to access college in PO13 9FU (free bus provided from Fareham Railway Station), travel allowance will be paid to cover train fares (or mileage if driving).
Start date: 02/09/24
