Williamson Park attracts over 500,000 visitors a year and is one of the North West’s premier tourist attractions as recognised by Visit England. Within the 54 acres of listed park and gardens are iconic buildings such as The Ashton Memorial, attractions and breath-taking views that attract visitors from across the UK.
The main visitor attraction on site is the Edwardian Butterfly House and Zoo. To maintain the facilities ever growing reputation we are looking for a dynamic and committed person to join our team.
Your responsibilities as a Zookeeper will include the day to day running of the Butterfly and Mini Beast House including feeding, watering, cleaning, maintaining the welfare of the collection, monitoring and recording of daily observations and incidents. The successful candidate will also need to conduct a daily ‘Meet the Keeper’ session or public talks.
This post is permanent. The hours for this post are 7.5 hours per week, working either a Saturday or Sunday, with the possibility of covering bank holidays and colleagues’ annual leave/ sickness. This post is based at Williamson Park.
It is essential that the successful candidate has a minimum qualification of a Degree in Zoology/ Wildlife/ Conservation and experience of working with a similar collection to ours. Experience of working in a customer facing role is essential, as is the ability to work both with and without supervision.
The successful applicant will be subject to an enhanced clearance with the Disclosure and Barring Service.
