The Opportunity…
We are seeking well motivated, enthusiastic and technical Mechanical / Process Commissioning Engineers, to join our growing HPC Commissioning Team, as part of its preparation to commission the first nuclear power station to be built in a generation at Hinkley Point C (HPC). Once operational, HPC will provide low carbon electricity to 6 million homes in the UK.

You will be responsible for contributing to the safe effective preparation and commissioning activities of the Nuclear Island systems within the HPC project.

You will help build successful collaborative relationships with, contractors, the HPC project delivery team, site engineering and the plant operational organisation ensuring success within your role. While working within a team to successfully commission HPC.

Alongside a salary of £53,000

What you’ll be doing…


- Ensuring all necessary resources are identified and in place prior commencement of work.
- Setting commissioning personnel to work, effectively communicating key information applicable to work tasks.
- Participating in plant/equipment handovers at all stages of the process.
- Supporting I&C, Mechanical & Process Systems Commissioning Engineers regarding the Nuclear Island aspects of their systems and testing activities.
- Leading the execution of Nuclear Island commissioning tests following approved procedures.
- Recording test results and supporting data in line with commissioning procedures and arrangements.
- Identification of faults and design errors including troubleshooting, potential investigations.
- Escalation of issues and when required the formal tracking of such problems to resolution.
- Witnessing of test activities performed by others (onsite and off-site testing and may include Factory Acceptance Testing).


Who you are…

You’ll need experience of working in a highly regulated industry such as nuclear generation, utilities, oil & gas, or other heavy/manufacturing industries.

Your enthusiasm and drive for continuous improvement will be a valued part of the Commissioning team and HPC. It is desirable that you have a good understanding of Nuclear Island plant operations and broad plant/systems knowledge; however, full training is available.


- Good technical background in process systems tests, including flushing, pump, and valve testing, etc.
- Demonstrable history of working within safety and quality cultures.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex information to others.
- Degree qualified or equivalent such as HNC and/or relevant experience in a relevant engineering discipline.
