Street Warden
Housing and Estates Management
NS4 £23,114 - £23,500 per annum
37 hours per week, Permanent

Previous Applicants need not apply.

We are now recruiting for a Street Warden to join our tenancy and estates team. In this role, you will work to build and maintain effective links and communication between the Council, the community, and other organisations.

We offer a competitive salary, enrolment in the local government pension scheme, a generous annual leave entitlement starting at 26 days and increasing with service, free car parking*, a whole host of family-friendly benefits, flexi-time, hybrid working, 1 days’ paid volunteering leave, a funded health cash plan, access to an employee benefits platform, and £10/month membership at one of our four gyms in the district.

You don’t need to have previous experience working in a housing environment – we can develop your skills and knowledge in this area. What is important is that you have good communication skills, that you are able to deal with a range of situations tactfully and with compassion, and that you are excited to work in the communities we serve.

As part of the role, you will assist in effective estate management; walking/driving around housing estates, highlighting breaches of tenancy, visiting vulnerable tenants, and working to encourage community involvement and general estate caretaking duties. You will also undertake minor repairs and maintenance as well as be prepared to act as a professional witness in court if required. In short you will be the eyes and ears of our estates and villages. A Council vehicle will be provided to carry out this role.

The successful candidate will be a caring and compassionate individual who wants to make a difference to the lives of our tenants across Newark and Sherwood. You will have experience of working with the public, ideally in a community field, and will take a responsive approach – always putting the tenant at the heart of what you do.

You will need a full valid driving licence as you will be required to work from other sites from time to time and attend meetings as well as work across your area of responsibility. The Council requires the post holders to work flexibly in this role to achieve positive outcomes for our tenants and the organisation in the most efficient and cost-effective manner.
