Role Summary: To support the head of medical services in the assessment, diagnosis and treatment for all 1st team squad players. To assist in medical screening, player health education and provision of education to the sports medicine and performance team.
Key Responsibilities:
The role includes, but is not limited to:
· To provide squad clinic sessions at the training ground (1-2 times per week dependant on weekly fixture schedule).
· To provide pitch side medical cover at all 1st Team matches (home and away)
· Liaison with and manage pitch side cover for U23 games.
· To be available for occasional ‘out of hours’ work including but not limited to telephone consultations with players, attendance at appointments and arranging imaging.
· To participate in club CPD and ensure emergency protocols and practice is maintained.
· To order, monitor, and track appropriate medicines, appliances and equipment as used by the club.
· To complete medical records in line with the club’s athlete management system, and ensure all medical governance is documented and adhered to.
· Deliver presentations and advise on medical matters relevant to Sports Medicine including whereabouts, STI’s, diet, travel and skin care.
· To organise and develop the cardiac screening programme.
· To undertake annual medical testing for the 1st team players including routine medical checks, blood tests and SCAT tests.
· To undertake any appropriate additional duties as required.
Essential Requirements:
· Fully registered doctor licensed to practice by the GMC
· Advanced Emergency Aid qualification – FA level 5 ATMMIF or equivalent
· Previous experience in providing medical cover for elite level athletes
Desired Requirements:
· Higher professional qualification in sport and exercise medicine or working towards.
Salary: £55-60,000 + Bonus scheme (part-time 0.5)
Location: Millwall FC Training Ground (Bromley) plus travel to home and away games
Responsible to: Head of Medical Services
Hours of work: 20 hours per week (0.5)
