Role: Psychotherapist/Counsellor

Department: People Services (PES)

Scale: NHS Band 6/7 (Depending on experience)

Location: Courtland Road, Hull (Must be willing to travel the force area)

Hours: Option 1: 25 Hours per week (Part-Time) Office based.

Or we are willing to split the role to x2 posts at:

Option 2: 12.5 Hours per week (Part-Time) Office based.

As a Health & Wellbeing Psychotherapist/Counsellor the post holder will provide responsive face to face counselling/psychotherapy to staff and officers employed with Humberside Police.

The role will involve supporting the triaging of referrals for the counselling services and advise as appropriate, including signposting to the most appropriate service provider.

This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about staff wellbeing and promotes a safe clinical practice environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Providing a package of care which involves liaising with external agencies, managers and health care professionals concerning sensitive, traumatic, and confidential issues.
Providing a professional confidential counselling and advice service.
A liaison role with other personnel professionals within the Advisory Team areas, each responsible for all Force employees and their dependants.
The postholder will be expected to exercise discretion and judgement in provision of advice to individuals without referring to Senior Management. Expected to effectively make daily decisions regarding prioritisation of workloads.
To provide appropriate support for a wide range of mental health issues including post-traumatic stress, work related stress, bereavement, depression, and anxiety.
To develop and deliver training courses to specific departments or units throughout the Force to support positive mental health.
In exceptional circumstances, to provide out of office hours support for emergencies within the agreed procedural guidelines.

What the role requires:

To hold a recognised accredited qualification either at degree or diploma level in a particular therapeutic modality or equivalent mental health clinical background.
Experience of managing a case load.
Experience of working therapeutically with people who have experienced trauma.
Ability to practice integrating a range of models of therapy and to be open to learning new theories and skills.
Experience of dealing with restricted and/or sensitive material.
Excellent organisational skills
Carries out tasks in an accurate and methodical manner with an eye for detail.
Ability to prioritise workload.
