The Library is looking to recruit a fixed term Research Data Manager to help lead and deliver a range of services associated with Research Data Management (RDM).

This varied role has primary responsibility for the day to day running of the Research Data Management service within the library, including developing and delivering training, responding to researcher queries and management of the institutional data repository. There is also significant scope to lead on projects to develop the Research Data Management service further including review of RDM services across the institution and disseminating the latest developments and practices within the sector.

You will have significant opportunity to contribute to both Open Research projects but also wider library and university projects and initiatives. It plays a significant role within the research process and there is scope to collaborate with other key stakeholders, including Research and Development, Information Governance, Information and Security Services as well as the researchers themselves. It offers a brilliant opportunity to develop a range of skills, including technical knowledge, project management, developing training materials and networking and collaboration.

In addition, the post holder will become a SafePod coordinator, to help manage bookings of this secure data facility.

The University strives to be diverse and inclusive, and the library has made Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity one of the key aims of our vision, The Library Towards 2025. We will provide an inclusive, supportive and safe environment where everyone belongs and can contribute to our distinctiveness. We particularly encourage applications from people who identify as Black, Asian or from a Minority Ethnic background, who are underrepresented at the University.

Our commitment to being an inclusive employer includes the following:

We are a Disability Confident employer and we work to ensure that reasonable adjustments are made for our colleagues to reduce barriers to inclusion at work.

We offer family friendly, flexible working arrangements, with forums and inclusive facilities to support our staff. Consideration will be given to job share applications. We also provide a comprehensive set of staff benefits and development opportunities.

We offer many training opportunities and strongly encourage continuous professional development.

We strongly encourage candidates to apply from a wide range of backgrounds, skills and experiences. We recognise that some applicants may appreciate an opportunity to have an informal discussion about the role, prior to applying. The Head of Open Research, Elaine Sykes would be delighted to talk to any prospective candidates in this position. Please email e.sykes4@lancaster.ac.uk to arrange.

Please note, this role is fixed term until the 30th November 2025.
