Vehicle Technician
Location: Welwyn Garden City
Contract Type: Permanent
Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week
Salary: £29,874 plus shift allowance
We are proud to be working with Hertfordshire Constabulary who are currently seeking a Vehicle Technician to join their team based in Welwyn Garden City on a full time, permanent basis.
The constabulary employs over 3500 officers and staff and 500 PCSO's and specials. They are a modern, proactive and flexible police force. They put the communities they serve first and are there for victims when they need them most.
What will you be doing?
You will be working within a team of 12. This is a united team and this role is important because it gives a great sense of pride knowing you are doing your part to keep Hertfordshire safe.
As a Vehicle Technician, you will be responsible for repairing, maintaining, and modifying a fleet of nearly 700 vehicles to the highest standards.
You will also provide administrative support to enable the efficient provision of service and to contribute to achieving the Force vision, purpose and values.
Key Responsibilities:
Every day is different whatever your role in policing, so here's an overview of your day-to-day responsibilities:
You will be servicing and maintaining vehicles to manufacturers/VOSA standards
Diagnosing/fault finding on vehicles and Unique Police equipment
Keeping up to date with all paperwork/job cards
Plan and prepare vehicle equipment installations
General house keeping
Attend external and online training courses when required
Liaise with management/stores to reduce vehicle downtime
What do you need?
Relevant City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 3
Experience in use of computerised diagnostic equipment
Ability to design, plan and prepare vehicle equipment installations
Full driving licence
Great attention to detail
Be proactive and use your initiative
Take a solution-focused approach to any query or task
Be a team player
