Job Description

Glasgow Social Work Services, Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service (ADRS) are seeking to recruit a Senior Addiction Practitioner to join the multi-disciplinary and integrated team that delivers alcohol and drug care and treatment services within a recovery oriented system of care.

The Senior Practitioner role provides a leadership role to social care and nursing staff, and makes decisions in relation to case closures and allocation. It is therefore essential that candidates are able to demonstrate good communication skills, knowledge and experience of risk assessment, and evidence-based decision making.

Senior Practitioners provide a care management role within a clinical setting and work as part of a large team dealing with complex service users with problematic drug and alcohol use and associated physical and mental health problems, including Adult Support and Protection.

Candidates should have previous experience of working with the complexities associated with dependent drug and alcohol issues and understand the impact on service users, families and the wider community.

Candidates should also have a commitment to recovery for individuals who experience difficulties with alcohol and drug issues.

Membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups Scheme will be essential on taking up appointment. Please note successful candidates for the above position will be required to pay for their PVG Membership/or Scheme Checks.

These posts are excepted under Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exclusions and Exceptions) (Scotland) Order 2013 (as amended).

This post is temporary for a period up to 31/03/25.
