Are you a People Person?

We have an exciting opportunity for 2 Retirement Housing Officers to join us at our brand-new Retirement Village; Cathedral Park, Hereford. The new Retirement Village in still in construction, due to be complete Winter 2024. There will be 80 modern apartments available for rent for residents aged 60 plus.

As this is a brand-new facility, you will have the opportunity to have real input during the set-up, to help shape the new service. You will benefit from the opportunity to familiarise yourself with the building and the team, before it opens to residents. The show apartment will be ready for viewing in late Summer 2024, you will be involved with the marketing, viewings and allocations process.

The Role

As a Retirement Housing Officer, you will be someone who takes a hands-on approach, providing a housing and tenancy management service to maximise tenancy sustainment.  You’ll have regular and flexible customer contact with the residents, providing practical and preventative support and advice. As well as this, you will signpost to specialist care and support services to maximise wellbeing, social interaction and minimise isolation.  You will also be responsible for playing a key role in developing strong relationships and working collaboratively with other agencies and Platform colleagues.

You will be responsible for investigating and managing tenancy issues such as anti-social behaviour, condition of property, tenancy changes or safeguarding concerns. You will also undertake new tenancy sign-ups and accompanied viewings for void apartments. You will periodically review tenancies and aim to identify any problems at an early stage, such as rent arrears and hoarding, then organise appropriate support to prevent and manage these concerns.

You provide effective building management, including property inspections, risk assessments, H&S monitoring and compliance checks.

Whilst the role will be based at Cathedral Park, you may be expected to work from nearby established locations such as The Rose Garden, Hereford, whilst Cathedral Park is still in construction. You will also be required to travel to other Platform offices as required.

This is a part-time role working 25 hours per week. Shift patterns will typically be either 9-2 or 12-5, Monday to Friday, with some Saturday shifts between 8-2. You will also participate in an out of hours standby rota, a minimum of three times per year, which will involve providing support to colleagues out of hours via telephone in an emergency, and in exceptional circumstances attending in person to assist, where appropriate.

Here at Platform we believe in making a difference to older people’s lives and we work to achieve this by providing the best levels of service to our residents and always approaching challenges with a can-do attitude. If you want to make a genuine difference with the work you do, this might be the right role for you!

Some things we need from you:

Experience of working in the social housing sector, particularly with a background of dealing with tenancy management, ASB and safeguarding.

This will be a role well suited to someone with experience of working closely with customers to tackle complex issues.

You will be proactive in your approach, organised and have the ability prioritise your time to meet timeframes.

You will have excellent communication skills and a customer focused approach, understanding the importance of delivering a high standard of service.

Experience working with vulnerable or elderly adults and customers from diverse backgrounds would be desirable.

Keen to deliver high standards with an ability to look to improve services too.

Confidence using digital devices, ICT software and systems.

Experience using Housing systems such as Open Housing, Dynamics or similar is desirable.

Due to the travel to offices and other facilities, a driving license and use of your own vehicle will be required.

An Enhanced DBS check is also required for this role.
