We are seeking a highly motivated health care assistant to join our friendly and dedicated team. This opportunity is for a committed and dynamic individual to join our friendly and enthusiastic team.
We are looking for individuals who will provide effective and efficient optimum patient care.
As a healthcare assistant you will be working within the nursing team delivering exceptional patient care under supervision from our registered nurses.
The successful candidates will work to support the nursing staff in assisting to care for patients with all activities.
As a healthcare assistant you will be expected to report patient’s conditions and concerns to the qualified staff.
The role involves a full range of manual and clerical duties and you will be expected to maintain the orderliness and hygiene and safety of the ward.
Required to undertake long days/night shifts/weekends 7 days a week.
We are currently recruiting for band 2 healthcare assistants. Applicants must be able to demonstrate the trust values and behaviours. We are looking for a team player who is able to support and assist the nursing team in delivering high quality care to our patients and their families.
Full care certificate training given.
We are a specialist hospital in orthopaedics and we care for children from 0-17 years with different orthopaedic conditions. Our inpatient ward is a 27 bedded paediatric ward, The successful candidate will be working alongside a nursing team that is skilled to deliver an exceptionally high standard of care to dependent children and their families.
To assist the nursing team with daily patient cares.
Participate in admission and discharge of patients in conjunction with the multi-disciplinary team as directed by a qualified nurse.
Escort patients to and from other areas of the hospital
Keep stock check of the ward and order supplies
Report accidents/incidents to the nurse in charge
Maintain confidentiality of all medical and nursing records
Carry out observations and inform the nursing staff
Communicate with patients and families in order to promote comfort and well-being throughout their stay
Perform hoisting and transferring safely of a patient
Apply brace and splints as necessary
Support the care of all patients learning new orthopaedic skills
Collect specimens
Perform simple non aseptic dressings
Attend all mandatory training
To assist in orientation programme for new staff
Participate in a personal development plan
Participate in patient education as directed by trained nurses
Keep stock check of the ward and order supplies
Keep the ward equipment clean and tidy
Project a professional appearance in behaviour and manner of dress
Welcome new patients and their relatives/carers and help them settle onto the ward
Answer the telephone and refer enquiries to the appropriate member of staff
Carry out clerical duties, including preparation of patient documentation and filing of notes
Assist in promoting and open and friendly working environment
Encourage a good working relationship with the multi-disciplinary team.
To report any potential complaints or incidents to the ward manager/nurse in charge and participate in the process as appropriate
Adhere to the trust uniform policy
Work closely with the multidisciplinary team
Work as an advocate for the patients and families on the ward
